A sombre celebration for a broken relationship: A funeral for the damned

What a way to commemorate a broken engagement — to continue living in this damned, confusing existence.

We’ve cycled through every humiliating status: lovers, engaged, and now, broken but stuck. What’s the proper term for this humiliating state of affairs?

A relationship purgatory?

We’ve been stuck in this limbo for years, condemned by all — especially those on his side.

Perhaps it’s time for a celebration.

Like a sombre funeral, complete with two empty coffins for each of us.

We’ll use that sepia-toned studio photo as the funeral portrait — the one that person, acting more like the bride than I ever was, tried to dictate.

Of course, no one would be crying at this funeral other than me. All those who had a hand in ruining everything for us would be so delighted, their shrieking laughter filling the air.

It’s time to put my spineless other half under the spotlight and make a toast to…
